Take your money out of big banks and put it into your community banks such as credit unions. You vote a couple days a year on a ballot, but everyday with your money. Can this make a difference? With enough people on board, it would at least turn a few top-heads. If you transferred mortgages as well that could make an even bigger hole to look through.
Luckily, I’ve only ever banked with a small credit union. What I seem to notice more and more is that I am not the majority, just part of the 99%.

How are people living their daily monotonous lives when the potential for change is only a number’s game away?
Taking a sabbatical or an unpaid leave from a corporate job and subletting the apartment to Occupy a public space would be a moment one would remember far more so than reading The Observer online, or some crap blog, about protests while avoiding the drone of work at one’s desk. What’s the point of a life if it’s a life serving an entity you care nothing about? Pay me just enough to afford a good mattress (1/3 of my life), good food (to continue living), and to be amongst good people in a good community (birds of a feather) and that would be a fulfilling life, no? Well, okay, I also need to earn enough to pay for college loans. That alone probably doubles the necessary salary. What is this job that will be paying me to live? Be it something I believe in. Be it something I willingly give my time -my life- to. Something for the greater good of humankind, of animal-kind, of earth-kind. Something operating with a completely committed conscience.
How could there ever be less? Oh, right -laziness is a skill embedded in all of us. Now I understand why businesses take the cheap and dirty shortcuts while people stay with those jobs they hate, those relationships without love, and why asinine mindsets continue to flourish. Please, let me assure you that I am not pointing the finger. I’m in a city I don’t much care for with a roommate who slams doors in a neighborhood I don’t trust. On the contrary, though, I did quit a job I felt I was “selling out” to. Education is something I now use and seek to better myself without the need of a “major.” Also, recently, I have immersed myself in leagues and clubs to find a community in which I can be happy to be living in this city for.
Boiling it all down, the root of this rant is on equality, money, and money. There is no pyramid symbol for equality. Let us, the bottom holding the top, allow the top to fall -to fail- to feel the ground we’ve tread and bled on for far too long.
